God is Our Refuge and Our Strength

Psalm 48: God is Our Refuge: The Charm of Home

How great is the Lord,
how deserving of praise,
in the city of our God,
which sits on his holy mountain!

                            Psalm 48:1

The Lord will reign.

In the last days, the mountain of the Lord's house
will be the highest of all-
the most important place on earth.
It will be raised above the other hills,
and all the people from all over the world will stream there to worship.
                                                            Isaiah 2:2

It is high and magnificent;
the whole earth rejoices to see it!
Mount Zion, the holy mountain,
is the city of the great King!

God himself is your defender.

God himself is in Jerusalem's towers,
revealing himself as its defender.
The kings of the earth joined forces
and advanced against the city.
But when they saw it, they were stunned;
they were terrified and ran away.
They were gripped with terror
and writhed in pain like a woman in labor.
You destroyed them like the mighty ships of
Tarshish shattered by a powerful east wind.

We heard of the city's glory,
but now we have seen it ourselves-
the city of the Lord's of Heaven's Armies.
It is the city of the God;
he will make it safe forever.
                                                                   Psalm 48: 2-8

"But those who drink of the water I will give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh bubbling spring within them,
giving them eternal life."
                                                                  John 4:14

They will never again be hungry or thirsty;
they will never be scorched by the heat of the sun.
For the Lamb on the throne will be their Shepherd.
He will led them to springs of life-giving water.
                                                                  Revelation 7:16-17

The sinners of the world will rebuke this, but the believers of the world know that it is real.

O God, we meditate on your unfailing love
as we worship in your Temple.
As your name deserves, O God,
you will be praised to the ends of the earth.
Your strong right hand is filled with victory.

Let the people of Mt. Zion rejoice.
Let all the towns of Judah be glad
because of your justice.

Go inspect the city of Jerusalem.
Walk around and count the many
towers.
Take note of the fortified walls,
and tour all the citadels,
that you may describe them
to future generations.

For that is what God is like.
He is our God forever and ever,
and he will guide us until we die.
                                                             Psalm 48:9-14

In that day the people will proclaim,
"This is our God!
We trusted him, and he saved us!
This is the Lord, in whom we trusted.
Let us rejoice, in the salvation he brings!"
                                                             Isaiah 25:9

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw a holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
I heard a loud shout from the throne saying,"Look, God's home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever."
                                                               Revelation 21:1-5

We, the believers, are his new holy city.

God is with her she will not fail, God will help her at break of day.
                                                                Psalm 46:5 (NIV)

God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed
From the very break of day, God will protect it.

                                                                Psalm 46:5 (NLT)

You are his holy temple, his new Jerusalem, if you don't know Jesus Christ he is calling to you now.
Pray to him and accept him as your Lord and Savior.
